Fluorescence spectroscopy laboratories (F287, F293)
The laboratories are equipped with:
- steady-state spectrofluorimeters FluoroMax-3 and FluoroMax-4 (Horiba)
- spectrometer Varian Cary50 UV/VIS spectrometer
- microscope TM-1000 (Hitachi Tabletop Microscope)
- inverted fluorescence microscope Olympus IX70,
- Nomarski DIC, with an integrating monochrome CCD camera (Cohu 4910)
- image processing software (NIS Elements from Nikon/Laboratory Imaging).
Microbiological laboratories for yeast cultivation (F-278-279, F-286)
The laboratories are well equipped for yeast cell cultivation and sample preparation (incubators, shakers, autoclave, flow box, analytical balances, pH-meters). and with absorption spectrometer Novaspec III. The laboratories are approved for the work with genetically modified organisms. We work with yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Kluyveromyces lactis as a model eukaryotic organisms.
Microbiological laboratory for cell lines (F-291)
For cell cultivation the laboratories are equipped with:
- CO2 incubator
- centrifuge
- optical microscope
- laminar flow cabinet with the aseptic environment for cell cultivation
Laboratory of time resolved fluorescence (F-233)
- Picosecond fluorometer: Time-domain fluorescence and emission anisotropy experiments can be performed on a spectrofluorometer based on a femtosecond Chameleon Ultra II (Coherent) Titanium:Saphire oscillator Compact-OPO parametric generator (Coherent), pulse selector and frequency doubler/tripler. The excitation source covers continuous wavelength range 230-4000 nm. The detection part is based on the SPC150 TCSPC electronics (Becker & Hickl) with cooled microchannel-plate PMT (Hamamatsu) or APDs. Multichannel routed detection, hardware sequencer, and time-tagging allow for rapid acquisition of fluorescence data required for investigation of dynamic processes. The system is optimized for acquisition of high quality fluorescence anisotropy data. For less demanding applications picosecond pulsed LEDs (PicoQuant) can be used as an excitation source.
- Frequency domain fluorometer: Time-resolved measurements in the frequency domain can be done with a dual-channel multi-frequency spectrometer K2 (ISS, Champaign) that can be operated with modulated LEDs (Nichia), electrooptically modulated Xenon lamp or with above mentioned pulsed lasers.
- Inverted confocal fluorescence microscope IX83 (Olympus) with FV1200 scanner for multichannel FLIM, polarized FLIM, spectral FLIM and FCS. FLIM and polarized FLIM addition are from (PicoQuant), 16-channel spectral FLIM from (Becker & Hickl). Single and multiphoton exitation with internal and external lasers can be used.

- Fiber-optics based spectrofluorometer TIDAS (J&M Analytische Mess und Regeltechnik GmbH).
- FluoroMax 2 spectrofluorometer (SPEX)
Besides standard parametric deconvolution methods, the fluorescence intensity and anisotropy data can be analyzed for distributions of both lifetimes and rotational correlation times by a maximum-entropy software (SVD-MEM). We possess FLIM and FSC software from both PicoQuant and Becker&Hickl.
Microbiological laboratories (F-232, F-234)
Laboratories are equipped with:
- FluoroMax 2 spectrofluorometer (SPEX),
- absorption spectrometer Novaspec III and
- sonicator UP200S (Hielscher Ultrasound Technology).
Laboratories are also approved for the work with GMO and are equipped for yeast cell cultivation and sample preparation (incubator, shakers, autoclave, analytical balances, pH-meter).
