Prize of Jirka Matoušek

Jirka Matoušek, the world's leading expert in discrete mathematics and computer science, professor of the Department of Applied Mathematics (KAM) and long-time head of the doctoral seminar, left us prematurely in spring 2015. In his memory, we have established a new award for PhD and MSc students. The prize is awarded by the head of the KAM at the beginning of each year (the first prize was awarded in early 2016) to KAM and IUÚK PhD and MSc students who have achieved an outstanding original result in the past year, which must be ready for publication at the time of the award. Recipients of the award are selected by a committee appointed by the Head of KAM. The initial award committee consisted of Helena Nyklová, Jarik Nešetřil and Martin Loebl.
