JupyterHUB service for students and staff

Are you a student and want to try working on a powerful computer system? Do you need to use different types of software for your studies or work, but don't want to spend time installing them? Want to try Linux? Are you a teacher of programming or computational methods and need to ensure easy access to computational resources for students during tutorials or lectures?

The JupyterHUB environment, which is available to all employees and students, allows immediate access to basic development tools and to the computing cluster, directly from your browser, without the need to install anything.

  • Easy access in three clicks
  • The possibility of working from various devices (laptop, tablet, …) from anywhere
  • Reservation of computing resources via SIS as virtual classrooms HPC01, HPC02, HPC03
  • Access to basic applications: Python, Mathematica, Gnuplot, Julia. Others can be installed separately or centrally after agreement with the administrator.
  • Easy file transfer (drag & drop)
  • Direct access to the Linux system via the command line (Bash Terminal)
  • Access to powerful graphics cards (GPU)
  • Direct communication with the administrator via Mattermost

Detailed information and instructions for students and teachers are available on the website of the faculty HPC cluster.

For further information, contact the administrator via Mattermost or at jiri.eliasek@matfyz.cuni.cz.

The ability to effectively use powerful computing infrastructures is becoming a common practice in science and industry. Our long-term goal is to provide easy access to computing resources for all students and staff. We are preparing open online mini-courses on various computing topics that will provide students with basic knowledge of programming and computing.

For further questions and suggestions, contact Zdenek Mašín at zdenek.masin@matfyz.cuni.cz.
