Magical Phyisics
The show of experiments "Magical Physics" has a tradition of more than ten years. During this time, we visited dozens of kindergartens, elementary schools, secondary schools and gymnasiums. Our initial and basic motivation for the realization of Magical Physics was and still is to give the joy of reflection and to teach the art of asking questions and wondering.
A characteristic feature of our band is the internally connected demonstration of a large number of simple experiments (up to 15) in a limited time of 45 minutes. Experiments draw attention to unusual manifestations of physical laws in everyday life. Their simplicity and, at the same time, their surprising result are intended to encourage students to think independently about the surrounding world and to strive for their own experimentation.
We are constantly adding to and changing our repertoire. As examples of demonstrated experiments, we can at least give their working titles: Celtic spoon, water tornado, chain fountain, Archibald's heat engine, Stirling's engine in a can, hovercraft, how to fail to burn a rubber balloon with water, balloon trapped in an air stream, vibrating suction cup, water telephone, balloon pushing versus bubble pushing, helium bubble with a pen, soap bubble geometry, soap bubble optics, Zeeman disaster machine; steamboat puff puff; the solar system on the table, liquid war, motorized molecules.
This show, awarded in 2016 by the dean of MFF, is led by a team of scientists from the Deaprtement of Macromolecular Physics, MFF UK in the composition of prof. Petr Chvosta, dr. Viktor Holubec and dr. Artem Ryabov, who are equally involved in the preparation and realisation of the show.Contacts
