102. Institute of Physics of Charles University
We connect with the heritage of the Institute of Physics established in 1882 at the Faculty of Arts of the Charles-Ferdinand University. The current Institute resides in its historical building. We perform research in solid-phase physics (with focus on semiconductor detectors), biophysics (applications of spectroscopy from biomolecules to living cells), and theoretical physics (tasks from the quantum coherence and quantum-mechanical simulations of molecules to multi-particle physics).
We carry Master programs in Biophysics and Chemical Physics, Optics and Optoelectronics, and PhD programs in Biophysics, Chemical and Macromolecular Physics, Quantum Optics and Optoelectronics, and Mathematical and Computer Modelling.
Our research equipment includes instruments for advanced research of semiconductors, biomolecules, and biological structures. Detailed list of techniques and instruments is available under description of specific divisions.
