Instructions for students
Here you will find information on lending services, e-resources, qualification papers, open access and other topics that may be of interest to you:
- you must register as a reader to make use of the lending services;
- for lending period of different kinds of documents see the overview of types of document loans;
- some documents need to be pre-ordered from the warehouse. Information about the need to pre-order a document from the warehouse can be found directly next to the document record in the CUNI Central Catalogue;
- if you need to pay a late fee, or find out what to do if you lose a book, go to the Loan services section;
- to find out how to register a book from a grant, see the section Purchase of new books;
- for the list of e-resources we have available in our faculty, see the E-resources page;
- citations of information sources can be useful when writing academic texts. Creating and managing bibliographic records according to your chosen citation style can be easier for you if you use the so-called citation managers;
- citing is necessary to avoid plagiarism. The inadmissibility of plagiarism is contained in the CUNI Code of ethics. The Turnitin system is used to detect and prevent plagiarism and to improve the quality of academic work;
- final thesis and habilitation theses are checked by the Thesis system and the aforementioned Turnitin system;
- templates for bachelor and master theses can be found on the MFF UK website;
- if you encounter the following problems in the preparation and submission of your thesis ...
- problems with saving the thesis text to the required pdf-a format (even though you have used the current thesis template),
- questions about copyright issues related to your thesis (especially if you are not sure how to handle the data you use in your thesis, or the result of your thesis is software you developed in collaboration with a third party, etc.),
- problem with uploading your thesis or appendices to the Student Information System, if you need to make a request to postpone the publication of your thesis or appendix and you do not know how to make or formulate this request,

- final theses and habilitation theses are searchable in the CUNI Central catalogue and the CUNI Digital repository;
